Thinking how common this is I figured, why not write a little bit about insurance claims. In the beautiful state of New Jersey, every registered car has to carry basic insurance coverage. The minimal coverage acceptable by state law is liability insurance, however a good portion of daily drivers carry all 3 forms of automotive insurance which are collision, comprehensive, and liability. There is a lot more to each definition of coverage and there are other coverage on your policy that protect your best interest in the case of an accident but the three above are the ones that cover your vehicle only. In the case you do have to file a claim; your insurance carrier will make the determination of which coverage covers your vehicle. A big misunderstanding is how many incidents a claim covers you for. The answer to that question is that each claim covers one incident. An example of this is as follows; Your vehicle has damage to the front and rear. They both happened at separate times 1 month apart. Your insurance company would require for you to file two separate claims for each incident.
